The network (multi-level) marketing industry has been in transition for more than a decade. As you might imagine, it is due to the influence of the Internet. A lot of ?old school? multi-level marketers have resisted changing the way they do business, but there is a new breed of top network marketing professionals who have fully embraced the new technology.
A lot of the old school marketers have simply refused to learn how to go about their business online. In fact, a lot of them have quit. Of course, that does not always mean they left their companies. MLM is all about recruitment and duplication. You join a program where you make a minimum commitment of a monthly purchase of products that, and your job is to find others to join your downline. The individuals you directly enroll are on the first level of your downline. You make a portion from their monthly volume or sales and purchases.
Here is the reason that multi-level marketing is incredibly powerful. Your ability to generate income does not stop there. When your first level referrals recruit their first level (which is your second level), and when your second level recruits your third level, you continue to make money. Each company is different, but generally, you?ll make money from five to ten levels deep.
This is the duplication process. Done well, over time, can bring about wealth and fiscal freedom. It involves more than being a good recruiter. You must be able to teach your referrals how to refer others successfully, and how to teach their referrals to do the same. At each level, the duplication process needs to continue to work its way down.
In the old days, the way you recruited was you asked everybody you came in contact with if they would like to join your opportunity. You were given a script to memorize, and you were taught not to take, no, for an answer. Your script prepared you for what they would say and told you what to say back to them, depending on what they told you.
Basically, you were trained to become like a door to door salesman to everybody you know, including all your family members and closest friends, your class mates and/or co-workers. There was even something called the three foot rule that said if someone came within three feet of you, you should go ahead and give them your presentation.
The new breed of top network marketing professionals often shudder when they hear those stories. They say they are thankful that the internet allows them to target people who are actively seeking to get involved in a business opportunity like theirs. In fact, due to the power of search engines, they set up systems so that qualified prospects contact them, asking for more information about what they have to offer.
