?LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A Texas man has been sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay $2.7 million in restitution for starting a New Mexico wildfire with toilet paper that burned more than 53,000 acres in the Lincoln National Forest.

Rodrigo Ulloa-Esquivel of El Paso, Texas, was sentenced Tuesday in Las Cruces federal court in connection with last year's wildfire that burned through the Last Chance Canyon in Eddy County.

The Last Chance Fire started on April 2011 when Ulloa-Esquivel lit toilet paper on fire after relieving himself so he would not leave litter behind.

High winds sent sparks into nearby brush and a fire broke out that he and his friends were unable to control.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in October.
